So I decided that this post isn’t really going to be a happy post about relationships, but it also won’t be a sad post like the previous one on domestic violence. Everyone who has been in a relationship, well most people have been cheated on by someone. If you haven’t, then power to you! :) To begin with I’d like to admit something to you. I am a playa. It’s just how I am. Many people who cheat or play people aren’t just wanting a relationship to be tied down to. Take the song “Tie Me Down” by New Boyz for example, it’s basically about a 17 year old who doesn’t want to be tied down. Yes cheating is very wrong but it’s just one of those things that happen if they don’t want to be tied down yet they don’t have the courage to break up with you. However, there are also circumstances where they like cheating because their heartless and they like to hurt others. Cheating can be accidents sometimes too. Cheating can occur if another person kisses you while your in a relationship with someone, however half the times don’t count on that as long as you DON’T kiss back. So let’s say that your boyfriend or girlfriend is cheating on you or playing you and you want to know what to do. To start off, I’m gonna tell you one thing… BREAK IT OFF! Most of the time if a person cheats or plays you, it’s gonna keep on occuring after those times of taking her/him back. Do yourself a favor from getting hurt all the time and leave. It’s not fun having a hurting relationship and for the person getting cheated on, it hurts. A playa is gonna keep playing unless a special person comes along in their life and they end up married and live happily ever after. If they cheat on you, then obviously your not that someone. Even if you don’t believe you will find someone better, you will! Another important thing is, DON’T ACCUSE UNLESS YOU HAVE PROOF! You may assume your girlfriend/boyfriend is cheating on you but do not confront unless you have proof. If you do assume and they really aren’t cheating it will cause a big problem and you guys most likely will break up anyways.

Your blog is great for anyone who knows someone who might be in violent home. Your blog is interesting everytime I check it out. Keep it up Meelea.

So I decided to skip over good healthy relationships and move straight onto something that has become a major issue over the years; domestic violence. In case you may not know what domestic violence is, here’s the definition from www.dictionary.com.

Domestic Violence- acts of violence or abuse against a person living in one’s household, especially a member of one’s immediate family.

Statistics show that 1 in 4 woman (25%) experiences domestic violence in their lifetime. It is also recorded that between 600,000 to 6 million woman are victims each year and 100,000 to 6 million are male victims. These statistics just show the ones that make it through the outrage. Others who don’t are part of another group of statistics known as “Domestic Violence Homocide”. In these results its concluded that nearly 3 woman and 1 man are mudered by there intimate partners every day.

As I kept reading those statistics, my heart fell for those who have been beaten and especially for those whose lives have been taken away. You know things happen like that but you never know how much until you research it. Then once you do research it you wish you never did cause you feel helpless (well at least I do). Domestic Violence is a big thing these days when it comes to relationships. So please when looking for the “perfect one”, make sure you look deep into them. The ones that may seem sweet and inocent may not be. If you happen to find yourself in a relationship like that, please get out right away. Tell your teachers, tell the police, just get out. Even though you may say “I don’t mind it, I love him/her”, the pain you go through is not worth it. Find someone who won’t hit you or get super angry. Don’t wait till its too late. Even teenagers just dating people get abused. It’s said that 40% of girls 14-17 know someone that has been abused by their boyfriend. 1 in 5 female high school students have been physically or sexually abused and 1 in 5 female high school students in a serious relationship have been hit, slapped, or pushed by a partner. These percentages aren’t decreasing either, more and more people are starting to actually see what happens with certain people they date. Keep in mind especially for you if your a teenager, if they do it now in high school or college, they are gonna keep on doing it if you get married. Pass the word on and tell higher authorities if you or someone you know are getting abused. If you need help right away please call 911 or the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).

I might take that career path but I’m not sure I could listen to people’s problems for the rest of my life. It’d probably be the same stuff over and over again and I’d get to the point of telling them to get over it and move on or something lol

I’ve was thinking over the weekend how I would start the blog. That’s when it came across my mind that I’d start out the blog how people start out with other people; as friends.

Friendship plays a major role when it comes to relationships. Before you date someone, well for me anyways, I have to be their friends. You don’t really go up to someone and say “lets date”. If you do that you may either 1) get rejected or 2) have a one night stand with no future. If you have a crush on somebody, get to know them first. Friendship is key. How are you gonna be “in love” with somebody without knowing them? It doesn’t make much sense and when you tell people your in love with a person you hardly know or just met, their not gonna believe you. You may like somebody from the first time you met them but don’t rush into things especially if your 13 or 14 years old. Your life in school isn’t just about finding the rest of your life, in fact only about 1% to 2% get married and last their whole life. The other percent may get married but they get divorced. Don’t spend those days trying to find somebody permanent. I’m not saying don’t find somebody either, but focus on your school work and YOUR future. However, keep friends. During your youth years your gonna keep some old friends and make new ones but always have a friend. You’ll find out that you can be happy with a handful of friends then having one boyfriend or one girlfriend. The percentage of friends lasting isn’t high either but 5% is a lot more than 1%. Friends are gonna change but friendship between you and someone else, is a whole lot specialer then a significant other, especially at a young age. However, that’s just my opinion.
